Reading to camera goes wrong in two ways: your eyes visibly move, or you sound like you are reading. Both come down to where the text sits and how fast it moves. Here is the setup, step by step.

The steps

1. Write short lines. Spoken sentences, one idea per line. Read it aloud once before you film.
2. Paste the script. Put it in Reelvana, or draft it there. AI script writing is optional and needs a connection.
3. Turn on the teleprompter. It floats over the camera view while you record.
4. Set speed, size and color. The speed slider runs from 80 to 360 words per minute. Pick a size you can read at arm's length.
5. Place the text near the lens. The closer the words are to the camera, the less your eyes move.
6. Record vertical. Do one practice read, then record. Reels, TikTok and YouTube vertical video are all 9:16.
7. Check, clean up and export. Play the take, cut dead air if needed, add captions, then export and share.

A worked example

Take a 30 second script of about 75 words. At a calm 150 words per minute that is roughly 30 seconds of reading with no pauses, so set the slider a little lower if you want room to breathe. Do one practice pass. If you trip over the same line twice, shorten that line in the script rather than slowing everything down. Then record two takes back to back and keep the better one.

Sound like you are talking, not reading

Write the way you speak, with contractions and short sentences. Keep the font large enough that you do not lean toward the screen. Look at the lens on the first and last line, and let your eyes drift only in between.

What it does not do

The teleprompter does not fix delivery: a flat read stays flat. The prompter scrolls at the speed you set and does not listen to you read. Reelvana does not post to Instagram, so you finish in the share sheet and post from Instagram. Captions and filler word removal need the speech model downloaded first.
