A private video editor that doesn't upload your video
Most editing apps do their heavy lifting in the cloud, which means your footage goes to a server. Reelvana does the opposite: it records, edits, captions and exports on your phone.
In a line: If you want a private video editor that doesn't upload your video, the thing to check is where the work happens. Reelvana keeps your footage on the device. Two optional features use the cloud, and only when you switch them on.
What “private” should actually mean
Privacy in a video editor is not a slogan, it is an architecture question: does your footage leave the device to get edited, or not? Plenty of apps route your clips through their servers for captions, effects, or AI features. That can be convenient, but it means your raw footage, including anything you would rather not share, ends up on someone else's computer.
Reelvana is built so that your video never leaves your phone. Recording, timeline editing, on-device captions, silence and filler-word cleanup, background blur or replace, watermarks and export all run locally. Your video file is never uploaded.
What stays on your device
- Your footage. Recording and every edit happen on the phone.
- On-device captions. The default caption model runs locally, so your audio does not have to leave the device to be transcribed.
- Silence and filler-word removal. Dead air and “um”s are detected and trimmed on device.
- Teleprompter, editing, watermarks and export. The whole pipeline runs locally and works offline, including in airplane mode.
What can leave the device, only if you choose
We would rather be straight with you than pretend nothing ever leaves the phone. Two optional features use the cloud, and only when you turn them on:
- Cloud captions. If you pick the cloud caption model instead of the free on-device one, the app sends the clip's audio track for transcription. Your video is never sent.
- AI script writing. When you generate or rewrite a script, the app sends your topic or prompt text.
And to be complete about it: there is no advertising SDK and we do not sell your data, but like most apps Reelvana uses Firebase and RevenueCat for crash reports, basic analytics and purchases. So this is not “nothing leaves your phone, ever.” It is something more useful and more honest: your recorded footage stays with you.
Why on-device matters
There is a reason this distinction is worth caring about. Apple's own developer policy states that “Data that is processed only on device is not 'collected' and does not need to be disclosed in your answers.” Processing that stays on your phone is treated very differently from content sent to a server. If you film client work, unreleased products, or anything sensitive, an editor that keeps your footage local is not a nice-to-have, it is the point.
What you get in one app
- Record in HD, with a pace-scroll teleprompter, and your music can keep playing while you film.
- Clean up silence and filler words automatically.
- Caption on device by default, or in the cloud if you opt in.
- Edit, brand and export with watermarks, then share to any app through the system share sheet.
- Pay once. Free to use, with Pro available monthly, yearly, or as a lifetime purchase.
Frequently asked questions
What makes a video editor private?
A private video editor keeps your footage on your device instead of uploading it to a server to do its work. Reelvana records, edits, adds on-device captions, cleans up silence and filler, applies watermarks and exports, all locally on your phone. Your video file is never uploaded.
Does Reelvana upload my video?
No. Your video never leaves your phone. Only two optional features use the cloud, and only when you turn them on: cloud captions send the clip's audio for transcription, and AI script writing sends your topic. Your video file itself is never sent anywhere.
Can I edit video offline with Reelvana?
Yes. Recording, editing, on-device captions and export all run on the device and work offline, including in airplane mode. Only the two optional cloud features, plus standard crash reports and analytics, need a connection.
Does Reelvana collect any data?
We will be honest rather than claim it collects nothing. Your video never leaves the phone, but like most apps Reelvana uses Firebase and RevenueCat for crash reports, basic analytics and purchases. There is no advertising SDK and we do not sell your data.
Is Reelvana free?
Reelvana is free to use, with Pro available monthly, yearly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase instead of an endless subscription.
