How to read a teleprompter without looking like you're reading
Write the way you talk. Read the script out loud once before you record. If you stumble on a line, rewrite it in shorter words.
Keep the text close to the lens. The farther your eyes travel from the camera, the more it shows. Put this window right under your webcam and read at the arrows near the top.
Go slower than feels right. Most people speed up when they're nervous. Set the speed a notch lower than you think, and pause if you need a beat.
Use big text. Fewer words per line means your eyes move less from side to side, and that side to side scan is what gives reading away.
Look away on purpose. At the end of a thought, glance down or to the side the way you would in a conversation, then come back to the lens.
Throw away the first take. It's almost always stiff. Record one to warm up, then record the one you'll keep.
