## What it does
- Capture: record talking-head video in HD while external music keeps playing (mix-with-others audio session); manual camera control (zoom, tap-to-focus, exposure, torch, framing guides, grid) clamped to real hardware.
- Teleprompter: a floating overlay tied to recording that auto-scrolls your script while you record. You set the reading speed on a words-per-minute slider (80 to 360), the font size, and the text colour. Arabic reads right to left automatically, and you can save scripts to a searchable library. It scrolls at the pace you set; it does not follow your voice.
- Script / AI: write and rewrite scripts with AI (generate from a topic, add a hook, shorten, clarify, make it natural, translate, platform styles) or import a script from a web link. Free to try; Pro removes the monthly limit.
- Captions: generate captions from speech with on-device Whisper, then burn them in at export. 15 styles including a karaoke per-word highlight, 6 animations, 6 one-tap templates, plus control over position, size, caps, outline, and plate colour. - Vana (Pro): a voice assistant for editing. Say what you want changed and it runs the edit, including several commands in one sentence, in English or Arabic. It records your command, up to 12 seconds, and on its default "Cloud first" setting sends that recording to be transcribed in the cloud. On builds from the release now rolling out it asks before the first upload; answering "Keep it on device" blocks both the audio and the transcript legs, and Vana then understands fewer phrasings.

## Privacy
- Your video never leaves your phone. Recording, editing, on-device captions, silence and filler cleanup, background segmentation, the coach, and export all run on the device and work offline. Three features reach the network, and only when you use them: cloud captions send the clip's audio, AI script writing sends your topic, and Vana (Pro) records your spoken command, up to 12 seconds, and sends that audio to our transcription endpoint and on to OpenAI or ElevenLabs; then, when the transcript has at least two words but the on-device rules cannot turn it into an action, it sends the whole transcribed sentence to a separate Cloudflare Worker of ours and on to OpenAI, along with a two-letter language code, whether an edit is open, and counts of the layers in it. The full sentence leaves the phone and is trimmed to 500 characters only after it arrives. Vana asks once before its first upload ("Where should Vana listen?"), and answering "Keep it on device" stops both legs, the audio and the transcript, at the cost of understanding fewer phrasings. That prompt arrived in the release now rolling out, live on Google Play and awaiting App Store review; copies of the app that have not updated yet do not ask. Its Recognition setting, under Settings then Vana, has three positions, "Cloud first" (default), "Cloud only" and "On device"; picking a cloud option there is itself the permission. Note that switching to "On device" after granting stops the audio leg but not the transcript leg, and there is no in-app control that turns the transcript leg off on its own. None of the three sends your video. The transcription endpoint keeps no audio on disk, and the usage record holds only the provider, model, seconds, request kind and your anonymous user id. Two smaller connections: requests arriving without a user id are counted against the sending IP for an hour, in memory only, and the first on-device captioning downloads a speech model from Hugging Face, which sees only your IP. There is no ad SDK and no ads, and we never sell your data. Like most apps, Reelvana uses Firebase and RevenueCat for crash reports, basic analytics, and purchases.
